That DVD feeling! May 16, 2006

Not that it is big news anymore but These girls will be available on DVD May 16th both in Canada and the US. Pictured here is the box cover for the US version - which begs a question. Why is David wearing a shirt? He is shirtless on the theatrical poster but not on the DVD box? Matter of fact, I've never seen him wearing that particular shirt - is it even his shirt, is it even a shirt or some kind of diabolical digital creation? There are probably some very good marketing reasons for this - however these are questions best left to the distributors (practicing their dark arts).

This could be the biggest scandal since they airbrushed what's her name's what's its name.

I think there should be a special edition where the shirt is actually a sticker which you can peel off once you get the DVD home from the store (if you are into those things).

The morality nannies are careful that we don't get too excited about this movie. Next thing, they'll put a disclosure ordering questionaire- with legal age and your employer's phone number - so he can be appraised of your movie viewing habits!

One more thing: I went to Barnes&Noble to pre-order it and found with a shock that David Boreanaz is not even listed in the cast in the DVD description!
Someone REALLY doesn't want to sell this!

Thanks BTB - I'll pass that information along to the distributor - because I know they want this DVD to sell.

Regarding the shirt issue, as someone who actually works in the entertainment industry and has to design wraps for DVDs I can answer that question. The MPAA is downright evil to deal with and they have a very long list of things you are not allowed to show on posters or packaging. For the studios it's often easier and cost effective to just give in and get it approved on the first go round rather than fight them over partial nudity or something. Besides, Jo said it best, he's naked on the inside which is all that matters...

I think you are most likely right on this issue - further to that, the distributor most likely wants Blockbuster and Walmart to stock the DVD and doesn't want any problems they can avoid to start with.
