Here are links to some of the reviews that have just come out on the eve of the Canadian release. And I know what you are thinking - all of these reviews are positive, how could that be? Well to tell the truth there have been a couple of not-so-nice reviews (some 'nay sayers', some 'kill joys', some 'party poopers' ) but it is not my job to promote my detractors. I am sure, somewhere out there, my evil twin has a site with links to them. In the meantime let's accentuate the positive.

The Toronto Star

The Calgary Sun

The Coast

Vue Weekly

I've been checking your blog daily and keeping up with reviews good and bad ... good definitely outweigh the bad. I'm just so sad this movie isn't being widely distributed in the US. I'm giving serious thought of flying to Philly for a long patriotic weekend to catch the movie. Your map and some of your posts are hysterical. You and Boreanaz must have gotten along well, as you seem to have a similar sense of humor. I hope the movie is a big success for you.

These Girls has been getting some really great press. Everyday I read something about it. Forever bitter that my working for KCFF meant that I missed the actual screening of the film. Clever little devil for sending us a screener with the last half hour missing. Very clever.
I'm persuaded to take a trip to Ottawa and support the film by buying and ticket to see it.

From what I've been told, the film deserves all the praise it has received. Congratulations.

My sincere congrats on the reviews and the film; it is no small feat to pull off a wicked, truly entertaining picture in this country -- AND have it recognized by our reviewers. John, you're awesome - can't wait to see more. To follow this adventure through your eyes is the best bonus material I've seen accompany a Canadian release, ever. It's also a terrific lesson in creative fortitude, and true grace. My cap is off, my grin is huge - well done, and may the box office reflect it.

for what it's worth, and i know you already mentioned me and my review (thanks, incidentally - i was pleased to do it...), i thought it was a good film. and i see a lot of them. if people don't get it, that's their problem. film reviewers are sometimes too goddamn jaded, whatever the hell that means. i think you've got to love/hate a film for what it is, and then slot it in on that general "film" list. for what it was supposed to be, your film is a winner. and the detractors - don't worry about them. they'll be detracting something else next week when your movie is making people laugh all over the country.
